Welcome to the Throne Room (The Beauty Realm Part 1)

Due to a recent comment by a Sir Kevin in search of things on the “Beauty Realm”, which is better known as “Revelation 4 & 5,” I decided to see what I could do to throw some of my thoughts out there.

Revelation 4 is one of my favorite chapters in the entire Scripture. I am easily fascinated by beauty and when the Origin of beauty Himself is the one being described, I am lost for anything else. Lately I’ve been feeling somewhat caught in the doldrums of routine that I’ve hit the wall of not fixing my mind on things above (Colossians 3). So here is what I’ve got on the matter, but there’s much more to come.

Revelation 4:1 says, After these things I looked and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”

In my opinion, this open door is the access point, not only into the rest of the book of Revelation, but also the point where divine entertainment begins. What do I mean by that? It is where the small unveiling of the beauty of God ushers John into confidence in both the majesty and power of the Trinity to strengthen him as he begins to take the ride of his life in vision after vision of the end of the age. Why is this important to us? Because it is to have the same affect on all who give themselves to meditating on it.

I love that both the door and the invitation are open. So often we feel like we have to beg our way into the presence of God, and if we’re just good enough He will finally bend His ear to our cry, but only for a moment until He gets annoyed with our monotone ramblings on things He doesn’t deem as important. However, the truth of the matter is that He created mankind for fellowship, and loves the sound of our voice ringing throughout the heavenly court.

So is this door an arbitrary entrance at the front of heaven? Maybe, but I don’t think so. There is a reason that Jesus said, “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture (John 10:9)” as well as “no one comes to the Father except through Me (John 14:6).” He is our point of access. Now, am I saying that John actually saw Jesus creaking open on a hinge? No, but I do think the door is a significant aspect of this vision. The fact that human beings have access into the realm of the divine is unthinkable!

Ephesians 2:4-7 becomes all the more stunning when we start realizing all that Jesus actually accomplished by His shed blood.

But God who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, when when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

Unfathomable!… Revelation 4 to be continued…
